Chamarajanagar is the southern most district of Karnataka, named after Chamarajendra wodeyar IX, the erstwhile king of Mysore. It is located on the interstate highway linking the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. It was carved out of the original larger Mysore district in the year 1998. Kendriya Vidyalaya Chamarajanagara is a civil sector school established in the year 2014-15 and Deputy Commissioner of Chamarajanagar is the Chairman of this Vidyalaya. The Vidyalaya started functioning with the Classes I to V from 13.11.2014 onwards in a temporary accommodation in Old Cocoon Market building, Santhemarahalli Road, Chamarajanagara. Kendriya Vidyalaya ,Chamarajanagara. Now it has permanent building near Madapura Village, Chamarajanagara. It has been actively engaged in the earnest pursuit of educating the children and nurturing them into grown up proud and confident citizen of the country. it is an earnest endeavour of this Vidyalaya to develop the all round personality of the students and to impart in them a feelings of responsibility towards their lives. The school is renamed as PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Chamarajanagara in 2023
